Pavillions of harrogate photo A Workshop was held at the Pavillions of Harrogate on Tuesday 1st May that looked at Keeping Safe in your home and when you are out and about.

Following a brief introduction to the workshop by Tim Hurren the morning started with a performance by the Harrogate Speak Out Drama Group - Diversity.

Diversity Drama Group photo The Diversity Drama performance was based on a 'Big Brother Residential Home' and covered three seperate acts that related to disability discrimination, each act was followed by Big Brother giving three alternative answers with the audience choosing the one they thought the most appropriate.

Following a good buffet lunch that most took outdoors to enjoy the sunshine the afternoon began with Richard Greenwood from the North Yorkshire Police.

PC Richard Greenwood photo Richard (PC Greenwood) gave the audience a talk on how to keep safe both at home and when out and about in the community, this included audience participation with questions answered and good advice given on what to do when faced with a specific problem. David Hendy photo The last presentation on the day was given by David Hendy on dealing with Bullying - this presentation covered some of the work already done by the Hambleton and Richmondshire Learning Disabilities Partnership Board with their permission to reproduce their work to cover the Craven and Harrogate areas.

The workshop finished with PC Greenwood and David Hendy taking the floor with a general question and answer session. Information booklets were also available from all who gave presentations.

Giving Feedback photo Throughout the day all those who attended were given the opportunity to ask questions and to give their feedback about all of the topics discussed in the workshops.
