
Direct Payments and Transitions Workshop
A workshop was held on Wednesday 24th May that looked at, providing information and answering any questions about both Direct Payments and Transitions.
The workshop was held at the Pavilions of Harrogate within the Yorkshire Showground.

The morning workshop looked at Transitions with Stuart Lomas giving a presentation about transitions in general, what it means and who it involves.
This was followed by David Bulmer and Kathy Robinson giving a presentation and providing information about transitions within the Craven and Harrogate areas.

Valuing People quote -When people in services for people with learning disabilities talk about transitions they usually mean what happens when a young person with learning disabilities leaves school.

Following a good lunch-break the afternoon workshop looked at Direct Payments with Jane Caress giving a presentation on how direct payments can be used in supporting disabled people.
The last presentation of the day was given by Anne Jarvis who gave more information about Direct Payments and the relationship to Independent Living Schemes.

The workshop ended with a final question and answer session involving most of the people who had given presentations along with Alison Turner (Care Management) and Kevin Miller (Health).
Throughout the day all those who attended were given the opportunity to ask questions and to give their feedback about all of the topics discussed in the workshops.
