Self Advocacy Consultation Groups

People with learning disabilities have been involved in the work of our Partnership Board and its various Task Groups since April 2002 when the Craven and Harrogate Learning Disability Partnership Board first formed.

In March 2008 the Partnership Board accepted a bid from Talkback to provide advocacy support in Craven and Harrogate.
|
 |
Talkback is a voluntary organisation for anyone with a learning disability. They are a registered Charity and Company who have worked across Buckinghamshire, Milton Keynes, Reading and York and also managed the Diversity Theatre Forum in Harrogate.
|
 |
Talkback want to develop the self advocacy groups already established, they also want to set up new ones to include more people especially those who are often not included for example, young people and people with high support needs.
|
|
Pat Crewe and Karen Murray were already working in the roles of self advocacy supporters in Craven and Harrogate. Talkback was keen to develop and expand the work they had started. Since then we have seen Self Advocacy Groups go from strength to strength and you can see by their meeting notes some of the work they have been involved in.
