Making a Difference
As people who have a learning disability are unlikely to become homeless, we need to look at making sure people are to be given real choices.
People in our area who have moved into their own or shared homes have said that they have experienced positive changes, new interests along with more choices and independence.
Task Group Achievements
A brochure was completed showing Housing Options available to people and showed different ways that people can live and be supported in our area.
A trial Accommodation Needs questionnaire was written and used in both Craven and Harrogate asking people about where they wanted to live in the future, however this was not continued as some people were upset and worried that they may have to move from where they live now.
We spent some time working on a picture version of the tenancy agreements that people sign when they move into their own or shared homes as tenants. This was shared with Housing Departments and Independent Providers; we now need to follow this up to see how useful it has been.
The Housing Task Group meeting to be held on Wednesday 18th June 2008 has been cancelled and rescheduled to Wednesday 17th September at Craven District Council Offices, Granville Street, Skipton.
